Softball Tournament

The CPAFI Softball Tournament is an exciting annual event where teams come together for a day of friendly competition, all while supporting a vital cause. Proceeds from the tournament help provide critical assistance to IDOC staff and their immediate family members during times of unexpected hardship.

Whether you're an avid softball player or just enjoy a good game, the CPAFI Softball Tournament welcomes participants of all skill levels. Form a team with your colleagues and step up to the plate for a day of teamwork, fun, and community support.

By participating in the CPAFI Softball Tournament, you'll be helping us continue to provide essential support to IDOC staff and their families when they need it most.

Rules

  • Only one team will be allowed per facility or agency division.
  • Only 14 rostered players will be allowed. Teams to be made up of IDOC staff, IDOC contract staff and immediate family members.
  • Each Team will play with a Super Gold Dot 12" ball for men, 11” for women.  ASA coed rules apply and only ASA approved bats will be allowed. NO SHAVED OR ALTERED BATS.
  • Each team may bat a maximum of 12 players (6 men, 6 women) or a minimum of 10 players (5 men, 5 women) alternating men and women, at least 10 players must play the field with any combination of men and women (2 men/2women outfield and 3 men/3women infield). Team members shall be at least 16 years old.
  • A team may choose to play with a minimum of 8 players' (4 men /4 women) but will be required to take 1 out each time they go through their batting order.
  • All teams will be allowed 1 injury substitution/courtesy runner per inning. (1 male, 1 Female)
  • 5 over the fence home run rule per game, anything after that is an out.
  • 7 inning games or 45-minute time limit (no new innings after 45 min. mark). Games will be called if your team is ahead by 15 runs after 3 innings, 12 runs after 4 innings and 10 runs after 5 innings. 6 run limit per inning with the final inning open.
  • Tournament will be round-robin style with a single-game elimination playoff.
  • All teams must be ready to play 15 minutes prior to game time with their line-up turned into the scorekeeper.
  • All substitutions will report to the scorekeeper and report into the game. The home team will be responsible for keeping the score.
  • Each batter will start with a 1 and 1 count and no courtesy foul.
  • Players must show their State ID or be a family member.
  • All final decisions concerning rosters and player eligibility will be decided by the Tournament Manager.
  • Team Captains will meet at the field one hour prior to start of first scheduled game to go over rules and receive copies of the bracket.
  • ARGUING WITH AN UMPIRE IS NOT GOING TO BE TOLERATED. Only the coach listed on the team roster will be allowed to appeal the umpire's calls.  If a player is asked to leave, they will have to leave the grounds immediately.  If they do not leave the grounds, their team will forfeit the game.
  • Each team must have all players sign the rules and waiver form before play can start. Waivers should be turned into tournament staff on the morning of the tournament.
  • NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ON PARK PROPERTY.

CPAFI is a 501 (c) 3 charitable fund, who provides short-term immediate monetary assistance to Indiana Department of Correction employees or their immediate family members.

 

Proceeds may also be used for tuition assistance scholarships for employees of the Department or their immediate family members or dependents.

 

All of the funds are administered by the Board of Directors of the Correctional Professionals Assistance Fund of Indiana.
